God's Reward System

Today, let's talk about something that has been sitting heavily on my heart.

The concept of reward.

We all know that God is a rewarder.

The Bible even says:

“He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” — Hebrews 11:6

But lately, I have been thinking deeply about something:

What if God rewards people in different ways?

Stay with me…

Sometimes, God rewards people with things.

Open doors.

Provision.

Marriage.

Healing.

Opportunities.

Favour.

Answered prayers.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. God delights in blessing His children.

But then… there is another kind of reward.

A heavier one.

A deeper one.

A reward that does not always look shiny at first.

Sometimes, God rewards a person with Himself.

When God spoke to Abraham, He said:

“Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” — Genesis 15:1

Think about that carefully.

God did not say: “I will give you a reward.”

He said: “I AM your reward.”

And honestly… I do not think we fully understand how weighty that statement is.

Because there comes a point where God stops merely placing gifts in a person’s hands…and begins placing Himself in the centre of their life story.

That kind of reward changes everything.

When God rewards a person with Himself, it often means He is calling them into deeper intimacy.

Deeper trust.

Deeper revelation.

Deeper stewardship.

Sometimes, it means He wants to make His hand upon their life undeniable.

Not for pride.

Not for fame.

But for glory.

His glory.

There are some people whose lives become living evidence that God exists.

Not because their lives are perfect.

Not because they never suffer.

But because the fingerprints of God become impossible to ignore.

And many times, those people walk through seasons where human help cannot fully explain their rising.

Because God intentionally arranges things in a way that makes it clear:

“This was Me.”

You know something beautiful?

When God rewards you with things, you enjoy the gifts.

But when God rewards you with Himself, you begin to carry His presence.

And honestly, there is no greater reward than that.

Moses understood this deeply.

That is why he said:

“If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.” — Exodus 33:15

In other words: “God, if I have everything except You, I still have nothing.”

And maybe that is the highest level of reward.

To become a person God can trust with His presence.

A person whose life points back to Him.

A person who carries evidence of heaven.

And the beautiful thing is this:

Sometimes we pray for God to give us things…while God is trying to give us Himself.

Sometimes we ask for smaller rewards while heaven is offering deeper intimacy.

And yes, material blessings are beautiful.

But there is something terrifyingly beautiful about becoming a person whose life cannot be explained outside God.

A person who carries His glory.

A person who carries His weight.

A person who carries His evidence.

So today, gorgeous, maybe ask yourself this:

“What if the greatest reward is not what God can place in my hands…but how deeply He can reveal Himself through my life?”
