(Ponder Wednesday): What is Morality?

Gorgeous,

What is Morality? Is God involved in Morality?

Recently, I read a book that said that morality points to God.

As in, all humans instinctively know there is right and wrong. That's why we argue using “That’s not fair!”, even when we break it ourselves.

Morality is not just instinct or social conditioning. Something deeper judges our instincts. The moral law is real because it tells us what we ought to do, not just what we actually do. So, If a moral law exists, then there must be a moral Law-giver. This points to something like a Mind behind the universe.

Because there is a mind behind the universe, we do have cause to be uneasy because this Mind is not neutral. It expects goodness, and we consistently fall short. That should unsettle us.

Morality isn’t made up. It points beyond humanity to God, and exposes our failure.

Now, what do you think?
Do you agree?
Can we be morally right without God; ie. only relying on our instincts?
